Autumn Jubilee Tablescape from From My Carolina Home

Because this is my favorite season of all, I have a lot of autumn inspired things to use in the kitchen and on the table. I adore these salad plates with the leaves, purchased some years ago when Pier 1 still had stores. The pumpkin bowls are also years old, and I get them out every fall for cereal in the mornings, and soup on chilly days. For this season, once again I challenge myself to create a new table using only what I already have. I wanted more color, so the burgundy tablecloth came out, topped with a little ...

Island Batik - Try a Tool Blog Hop from Sew Preeti Quilts

Welcome to Day Two of Island Batik's August 2021 Blog Hop - Try a Tool.

My assignment was to use the Butterfly Blooms collection and the Corner Pop 3 Ruler to make a project.

Butterfly Blooms, designed by Kathy Engle, is shipping to stores in September 2021.
Let's first feast our eyes on the lovely fabrics.

Inspiration Board

If you like these fabrics, you are about to be dazzled...by how bright they look in person.

These colors remind me of the Crape Myrtle trees that are in full bloom these days.

Island Batik Boxes and the Video Shoot Setup

The second set of boxes were received in July 2021. Here is my home video showing the goodies as I unbox them.

For the August Challenge (Try a Tool) and Blog Hop, I will be working with Island Batik's Butterfly Blooms collection.

Island Batik July Challenge - The Holly Family from Sew Preeti Quilts

The Island Batik Challenge for July urged us to get an early start on Christmas and other end of the year holiday projects!

In my first Island Batik Ambassador Box, I had received a strip set of Holly Holiday fabric, designed by Kathy Engle. With deep red/dark green colors and reindeer/pine shaped trees it screams Christmas. Naturally I set it aside for the July challenge.

We have a small Christmas tree and some years we even put it up, when we are not traveling. If I make ...

Island Batik June Challenge - Novella from Sew Preeti Quilts

The Island Batik Challenge for June 2021 reads as follows:

The challenge for you is to use the 8” or 12” finished BOB dies from your Ambassador box, the GO! Qube 8" Mix & Match Block and create a whole new pattern by combining the two!

Here is my response

Novella, 11" by 66"

And here is the Story.

BOB means Block on Board. In other words, the complete block is on a single die. I received Snails Trails Die.

Island Batik March Challenge - Scrapbuster from Sew Preeti Quilts

The March 2021 Island Batik Challenge is to make a Scrapbuster Quilt.

Being a new ambassador I do not have a lot of Island Batik fabrics.

Me: How do I make a scrapbuster without scraps?
Paul: You have no scraps?
Me: How do I make an Island Batik scrapbuster quilt without Island Batik scraps?
Paul: Did you not get a big box of fabric?
Me: Well, yes, I did. However, some of that fabric has been used in previous projects and some is earmarked for later projects. Whatever is left is a bit limiting.
Paul: So what did you do ...

Island Batik - The Unboxing from Sew Preeti Quilts

There is a first time for everything, right?  This is my first attempt at making a video.

I hope that what I lack in production quality and overall appeal is balanced (somewhat) by my genuine excitement.

Well, according to Blogger, my video exceeds their size limit (yes even after cropping and reducing file size). Insert raspberry here.

You may view it on my Facebook page here.  Here are a few highlights from the Box.

Full of goodies

This gorgeous bundle contains 20 fabrics, 1/2 yard of each, which I am using in the February Blog Hop challenge. The post ...

The Economy Quilt from Quilted Delights

When I was making my Snails Squared quilt, I made some boo boo's and cut the wrong color fabric for the wrong sections. This left me with some extra triangles just floating around.

Well, I didn't want these triangles to get lost in the scrap pile so I decided to make a baby sized quilt using 6 inch economy blocks and the rest of the 10 inch precut of William's Garden, an Island Batik signature collection by Kathy Engle for Deb Tucker of Studio 180 Design.  Precuts are available now, yardage is coming September/October.
I wanted ...

Christmas in July Wall Hanging {Finished Project} from Little Bunny Quilts

My Christmas in July Island Batik project is finished!

I added a penguin applique to the lower right corner of the top of the wall hanging for a little bit of fun. This is actually the same penguin that is available in our Seasonal Placemats and Seasonal Wall Hanging patterns; I simply scaled up the design.

For the quilting, I used white thread to quilt loops and snowflakes. I added eyes for the penguin with a fabric pen.

The binding is a navy mottled Island Batik basic that I had a half yard cut of in my stash. For the ...

Unboxed: My Second 2020 {Island Batik Ambassador} Box! from Little Bunny Quilts

I'm so excited to show off the things that came in my second Island Batik Ambassador shipment for 2020!

First off -- batting from Hobbs bonded fibers! Let me tell you -- living in sort of the middle of no where, it is so nice to have a few battings on hand and not have to make a special trip out to buy one, which I used to have to do quite often! I'm excited to play with the fusible batting roll -- is a jelly roll rug in my future?

I have two "surprise" packages that are soon-to-be released lines ...

Chrysanthemum Quilt {Finished Quilt} from Little Bunny Quilts

I am so excited today to show off my finished Chrysanthemum quilt!

This is my June Island Batik Ambassador project -- I used fabrics from the Primo line by Ebony Love for the piecing and solid white batik for the backing. I used stash builder strips cut in half for the binding.

For the quilting, I used a peach Aurifil 50 wt. thread in both the top and bobbin. I obviously used a crysanthemum motif for the free motion quilting!

I am pretty resolved that this year there won't be a QAL given that life has been crazy busy but ...

Wholecloth Quilting from Sew Karen-ly Created...

A couple of weeks' back I started machine quilting a whole cloth quilt as part of my "self-threaducation" during lockdown.  I have set myself the task of trying out different weights of Aurifil threads in various applications to see how they look. As a dealer for this wonderful product I feel I should not just offer the thread for sale, but actually know how it performs in various applications.
The stitching was a breeze, but getting a good picture has been tricky!
This is a pre-printed kit from Benartex;  on their website it is entitled simply Nautical Wallhanging, but it ...

Looking Back On 2019, And Ahead To 2020. from Sew Karen-ly Created...

From https://www.facebook.com/ReScapedotcom
Another over-busy, super-productive year is drawing to a close, and with it ends my 2 year tenure as an Island Batik Ambassador.  I have enjoyed my experience with Island Batik *SO* much, and am very thankful for this amazing experience, but it was time for a change.  Polly will miss receiving the bulging boxes of goodies, filled with products from sponsors Island Batik, Aurifil, Hobbs Batting, and Accuquilt. We remain ever grateful for the support of these very generous companies.
All of the projects shown below were stitched with product supplied by the above ...

Island Batik Ambassador Final Post! from Quilting Affection

Today, Is my very last Island Batik Ambassador post. It's hard to say goodbye to a good thing, now that it is time for me to step aside and let others have a chance to enjoy the pleasures I had over the last couple of years.

When I started out as an Island Batik Brand Ambassador in 2016, I was just trying to figure out the pattern design business and get my name out there. Over the last several years, the hard and fulfilling work I put into being an Island Batik Ambassador has paid off. Oh, don't ...

Desiderata from Sew Karen-ly Created...

Posting this final project of 2019 as an Island Batik Ambassador is bittersweet, as it is in fact my last project as an Ambassador...at least for now.
The theme for this month could not be more perfect for me:
Explore the world of 3D using your creative talents for this month’s challenge. Bring your inner artist out by using optical illusions, textures, trapunto or whatever else will make your quilt pop into life!
Over the years I have explored many facets of 3D and illusion, and taught workshops on isometric perspective using 60 degree angles.  If interested, you ...

Sweet Dreams, Little One... from Sew Karen-ly Created...

While most folks involved in the quilting industry are currently enjoying Quilt Market in Houston this weekend, some of us remain home...sewing! However, one of my quilts is on display there, so I am feeling anything but left out.  This is the third Quilt Market in a row that I have designed a quilt to show off a new fabric collection for Island Batik.  It's a real honour to have a design accepted by this premier fabric company.
"Sweet Dreams" photographed in an antique cradle owned by Beth Munroe, Amherst, N.S.
